Orange Shirt Day

Annually on the 30th of September All day

SD8 joins the rest of Canada to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. September 30 honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Activities in schools during the last week of September focus on practices that champion healing, truth and reconciliation and include Indigenous worldviews and ways of knowing in our teaching and learning, as well as celebrate diversity. Students and staff mark the day by wearing orange, and recommit to the enduring truth that EVERY CHILD MATTERS, every day and everywhere.
