Pink T-Shirt Day in the Seedlings Class

The seedlings class participated in Pink T-Shirt day by wearing their pink shirts, doing activities, and reading books that teach about empathy, compassion, and kindness. One of the activities the class did was called "wrinkled heart". The students all had a paper cut out heart and Emma asked the them for examples of things that people say or do that hurts their feelings. For each example, the students  folded their heart. She then had the students share positive experiences or ways that others have made them feel good. For each response, they unfolded one fold in the heart. Once they finished sharing, they were asked how the heart looks. They discussed the effects that hurtful behaviors can have on someone, as the wrinkles in the heart never come all the way out. They talked about ways that they can demonstrate kind behaviors toward others to avoid causing wrinkles in their hearts.
