Wandering Among the Wildflowers
Welcome back! We are so happy to be back at school and to have the halls filled with the joyful noise of learning. September is such a beautiful month here in the Kootenays and for those of us who work in schools it is made all that more special by the return to school, and the return to community.
Here at Wildflower we very much believe in the power of community and consider it central to our practice. As such September is focused on building community and welcoming in new community members. This year we are grateful that each of our classes is full, and that our new students seem to be adapting well to their new school and classes.
Over the course of the next few months I would like to take time to speak about some of the core principles that underly our practice and help explicate why Wildflower is such a special place. Some of these principles are as follows:
- Relationships
- Restorative Principles
- Multi-Age Learning Environments
- The Importance of Play
- Social Emotional Wellbeing
I very much look forward to the year ahead of us, and have great hopes for what we will be able to acheive together.
