As we get ready to welcome new children to our Seedlings Class, their teacher has prepared a book for parents to share with their children.

The seedlings class participated in Pink T-Shirt day by wearing their pink shirts, doing activities, and reading books that teach about empathy, compassion, and kindness. One of the activities the class did was called "wrinkled heart". The students all had a paper cut out heart and Emma asked the them for examples of things that people say or do that hurts their feelings.

It's the annual kindness campaign! If your child has a shirt from a previous year that they have outgrown, they can bring it along and share it with someone who may need a pink shirt. The Pink T-Shirt Day Society (www.nobullies.ca) has also donated t-shirts for our students - about 1/2 of our kids will get a free shirt again this year!

Kirsten's class is fundraising for their year end trip - one of their initiatives is a "Seed Sale" through West Coast Seeds.

If your child's class is not doing Scholastic book orders, you can still order books! Through the library, I will be placing orders monthly on the last Thursday of each month. Simply go online to https://canadaclubs.scholastic.ca/, select Wildflower School, and then Cavicchi, Anne.

The NDYC has a number of fun activities planned for the spring break.

WMYP students made borscht for the Nelson Community Food Cupboard and delivered it to them today.  The students collected donations at the Kootenay Coop - so it really is a community effort! Such a great thing!

The past weeks have seen the students in Nelson working with the ArtStarts program on a project called "Zoom into Wonder".  Using a jeweler's loupe, the students magnified and explore everything from the back of their hands, to an amethyst crystal, to a kernel of popcorn - then created art! You can see the results of their work in our main entry this week.

On November 21, we gathered to honour our Metis brothers and sisters, and raised a flag to honour Louis Riel Day.
